Official Announcement - The Middle East Saudi Arabia Urban Infrastructure Investment and Urban Construction Expo will be held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, in September.
It is learned that the much-anticipated Middle East Saudi Arabia Construction Expo operated by UBM Exhibition Group will be held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, in September.
The exposition is organised by the Saudi Ministry of Municipalities and Housing and co-organised by a number of banks and financial institutions.
The Middle East is an important node of China's “Belt and Road” initiative. Since the initiative was proposed, Middle Eastern countries have responded enthusiastically to it, and over the past decade, they have achieved fruitful results in cooperation with China in the areas of infrastructure, trade, tourism, energy and so on.
Statistics show that Saudi Arabia has been China’s largest trading partner in the Middle East since 2001. Since 2013, China has become Saudi Arabia’s largest trading partner. In 2022, the bilateral trade volume between China and Saudi Arabia reached $116 billion, a year-on-year increase of 33.1%. Saudi Arabia has become China's first $100 billion trading partner in the Middle East.
Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030” focuses on developing manufacturing, and the current characteristics of Saudi Arabia’s economic structure determine that it must seek external cooperation. China and Saudi Arabia have strong strategic complementarity in economy, the “Belt and Road” initiative and Saudi Arabia's “Vision 2030” is exactly in line with the development needs of the two countries, and the two countries have better political mutual trust now, it is likely that this trend will be strengthened in the future, which provides good cooperation and development opportunities for Chinese companies to invest abroad.
“Vision 2030” has stimulated a great leap forward in infrastructure. After Saudi Arabia launched the “Vision 2030” plan, Saudi Arabia has become the world’s largest construction site, investing 4.13 trillion riyals (about $1.1 trillion) in infrastructure.
In addition, the warming political relations between China and Saudi Arabia have also created favorable conditions for the development of Chinese companies in Saudi Arabia. Currently, Saudi Arabia is a hot spot for infrastructure investment and a large amount of infrastructure construction is underway. From 2022 to 2023, there are about 62 projects under construction in Saudi Arabia, involving more than $70 billion. The growth of Saudi Arabia's construction industry is supported by increasing investment in transportation, renewable energy, tourism, industry and housing projects. Key areas include commercial construction, industrial construction, infrastructure construction, energy and utility construction, institutional construction and residential construction. Saudi Arabia has a huge demand for infrastructure.
The exposition sets up seven major exhibition areas, namely: urban construction planning & design and investment & financing services, urban infrastructure construction, sponge city and underground utility tunnel construction, engineering machinery, construction machinery and special vehicles, smart city construction and application management technology, green building energy-saving building materials, and seawater desalination exhibition areas. The organizers plan to invite professional buyers and partners such as relevant construction groups, financial investment institutions, energy companies, etc. from more than 30 countries and regions, which will establish a good communication and cooperation platform for Chinese construction companies to go to the world.
